As a signee of UGK Records, Dub G has definitely been carrying the torch for the Kingz recently. His style is in the same country rap tunes vein as theirs, musicaly and lyrically. As the host and chief contributor of the Era of the Kingz mixtape, he delivers a worthy performance with the help of some great producers, such as Nesia Beatz. His tracks are the best part of this mixtape, partly because some of the songs are just straight throwbacks, making the whole project essentially a non-chronological compilation. Even if you’ve heard some of the tracks before, it’s definitely worth a listen to get a look at the future of UGK Records.

We’ve been keeping an eye out for Vallejo, CA’s Moe Green in the past couple of weeks, mainly since we heard “Ride”. After listening to his street album Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match, it’s safe to say that it’s one of the summer’s standout releases. Although almost every song is made by a different producer, Moe accomplishes something that shouldn’t be taken lightly – keeping the album cohesive and tying all together with his raps. Instead of seeming all over the place, as often happens when an album has an ensemble cast of producers, Moe seems to have chosen the beats for their own vibe with the big picture in mind. The song “KIM”, like the album as a whole, is very smooth and personal. Do yourself a favor and download Rocky Maivia for free at the link below. Pittsburgh native Mello Mac teams up with DJ Burn One for his street album entitled The Ruler. Production for the album features long time collaborator Nesia Beatz, who sets the tone providing Mello with more than a couple triumphant, bottom heavy tracks. Paragon, Crakk King and Arson Amazing also make strong contributions to the project. Showcasing his production abilities as well, Burn One delivers with two heaters.
