A Couple Minutes with Rittz the Rapper
BLVDST| RITTZ Live in East Atlanta from Blvd St on Vimeo.
As the sun was setting over East Atlanta on Tuesday evening, the inside of the 529 was buzzing, booming, and wah-wahing as DJ Burn One soundchecked the room with some brand new country rap tunes productions. The pre-concert medley attracted the handful of people who had showed up extra early. Everybody there was vibing, but one dude in particular was listening with the focus and intensity of a pro athlete. “Burn, I’m gonna freestyle to this one” announced Gwinett’s own Rittz, stepping onto the stage and checking the mic. Minutes later, heads were bobbing in double time as Rittz let rip a vicious freestyle verse that went on (in his signature rapid-fire style) bar after bar.
Rittz isn’t new to the game, but recently he has been creating new fans out of long-time rap heads. Several people asked me who he was during his set. They were all impressed, and they’re not the only ones. We chopped it up with Rittz for a minute to ask him some questions about himself and his upcoming work. The song in the performance is “After Mornin”. White Jesus hosted and (mostly) produced by DJ Burn One coming soon.
