One of the main questions I get on the streets about Yelawolf’s Trunk Muzik is “who’s that dope ass guy on the second verse of Box Chevy Pt. 3?” His name is Rittz and he resides on the northside of Atlanta. His rapid fire-melodic flow has garnered him much (deserved) attention. I’ll start leaking joints off our upcoming tape White Jesus soon but before I do that I wanted to drop this gem from 2008. And really, if you’re a rapper from the south and haven’t sample this at least once then you’re probably not actually from the south.
“Did you know I put lives in danger? Did you know that I was a born threat?”
Most may be unfamiliar with the name but if you lived in ATL around the time this record dropped you were definitely bumpin this. Off Ku’s1996 offering Confeshun 2 Da Streetz, “Born Threat” finds the Decatur rep on the offensive. Accepting his role as the villain, Ku spits tales of murder and mayhem with no remorse.
The self-produced beat is vintage a-town music - hard drums, haunting piano keys with faint choir vocals in the distance and flutes! “Born Threat” is a perfect example of what I use to love about gangster music. It was street but still had a compelling musical edge. He’s not simply shouting out how real he was over a shitty instrumental. G-shit if I’ve ever heard it.
This video premiered on Dirty Glove Bastard earlier today, and even though I’d just woken up, I had to put one in the air after watching it. The song I’d heard a few weeks ago on Baller’s Eve and thought it was a great chiefin anthem. I got an inbox full of sext messagessssss!

One of my favorite tracks from DOFS gets the visual treatment, and I gotta say it’s probably Alley’s best, most polished and coherent video to date. Spotted at OnSmash.

Since Box Chevy Pt 3, there’s been a huge demand for new audio dope from 770 flag-bearer Rittz. People want to hear more from this dude with the red fro and nasty double-time flow. Keep checking out BLVD ST, we’ll have all the details on his upcoming projects as they surface.
Ced L Young is back once again with this ode to sexy but stingy bitches. We all know at least a couple girls who play those games to get what they want from dudes. And most of us have fallen victim to one too. Ced makes a rare appearance on the mic and he’s accompanied by Angeletti and Mike Fresh (Northsiiiide!!). They turn the low-boiling guitar and bass combo into an anthem that will probably be a lot of dudes’ theme song this summer.
