Tity Boi and Dose performed Tuesday night at Pearl Bistro in Atlanta. DJ Teknikz brought the whole city out for his bday - Travis Porter also come thru, and pretty much everyone else too.

I don’t know much about Soulful~I besides what was on his MySpace page, but this track is a monster. If anyone can help us identify the rappers (besides Killer Mike, Danny Boone of Rehab, and Soulful~I), please do so in the comments section.

Here at BLVD St, we usually don’t post too much music from outside the south, but when we do it usually seems to come from the Bay Area. Vallejo’s Moe Green (not to be confused with the OG Moe Greene of Dirty Glove Bastard) is a guy we’ve highlighted before, and his Rocky Maivia mixtape was a sleeper last year. His performance at last year’s A3C festival was also a surprise - the crowd grew exponentially as his set went on, as people heard the music and flocked to his area of the venue. His upcoming EP is going to be called Lionheart.
Somehow I missed this one when it came through my inbox courtesy of the homie Dan at the awesome PR firm Audible Treats, who always sends heat our way. Here’s a little more info on the Dallas duo, courtesy of their press release:
While A.Dd+ is a duo, comprised of rappers Slim Gravy and Paris Pershun, the unofficial third member of the group is producer Picnic Tyme, who, in addition to producing all of When Pigs Fly, is part of Erykah Badu’s Cannabinoids crew and also works with Devin The Dude and others. While A.Dd+’s influences shine through in their music, like many ‘90s-inspired artists, they’ve taken these influences to develop a sound all their own, and are part of a rising crop of Texas artists (including Sore Losers from Dallas, The Niceguys from Houston, and others), eschewing the popular sounds of their region for their own sound.
I got a chance to hear the upcoming When Pigs Fly and it’s sounding really dope. You can keep up with them at their Twitter page.
A crazy story track from the one and only Kosherbeets, with Lazymane on the beat. Check out more of their work, including the excellent album How Do This Happen? at Supreme INK.net and their YouTube Channel
Props to Motion Family and OnSmash
Props to The Hydrilla

warrenJae’s mixtape, Before I Lay Vol. II: A Prelude To The Dream Catcher, drops today. Props to Randy Roper, who’s been working with the SC newcomer (pause) for a while. P.S. no clue why warrrenJae spells his name with a lower case “w”, it must be a hippie thing.

I’ve been riding to this album for the past few weeks and I guess this is what blogging is all about, sharing what you’ve experienced. 1996 was a great year in Southern hip-hop so many classic albums and songs were released during this time and this record is one of the best and most underrated albums from that year. I believe this album is what really help solidify DJ Paul and Juicy J’s sound and production skills, and the Memphis sound overall. SIDENOTE: Prophet Posse affliate and fellow Memphis underground legend Playa G also lended a hand and played most of the keys on the album, which added to Juicy and Paul’s sinister soundtrack of beats. This album was not only influential to future Hypnotize Minds records like “Ya’ll Ain’t No Killaz” and “Lookin For Tha Chewin”, which were made over by Project Pat, but also for other Southern rappers such as 8ball and Pimp C who made their own renditions of the infamous “Midnight Hoes”. However, like many other rappers who worked with Hypnotized Minds, Skinny Pimp claims to have been cheated out of hundreds of thousands of dollars from DJ Paul and later left the label. We will never know how big of a legend Skinny Pimp would have been if he had stayed working with Paul and Juicy, but if this album is any indication, he would have been one the South’s biggest names. I would give a download link but this is available to purchase online and I dont believe such as classic should be given away for free.
King South has built a worthy buzz in Alabama without dropping a video, but here is a dope video from King South, “Cry For You”. Song Produced by Grade A Muzik
