Here is the first leak off Strictly 4 The Traps N Trunks Vol. 9 which will be hosted by Freddie Gibbs. We are hooking up with DJ Burn One to do this edition so there will be plenty of classic country rap tunes for your ears. This first record is from the Doobie Brothaz which consists of ST 2 Lettaz of G-Side & Jackie Chain and it’s a perfect example of what you can expect to hear on the tape.
A who’s who of Alabama’s top hip hop artists were in Tuscaloosa for a show last month Yelawolf, KD, Don Prez, B-Flat, Attitude, Jackie Chain, S.T. (of G-Side), Codie G and more posted in T-town the weekend of the Alabama-Penn State game.
Here’s one for las afueras, an anthem with plenty of bounce and a truly gnarly guitar riff. Like this previous collab with Kenny Thomas, Mr VIP shows us some hook-writing skills, which is exactly what it takes to make a song like this one memorable. While rappers have been coming out of the boondocks since the beginning of time, it hasn’t always been “cool” to embrace being country. With more and more jams like this one coming out of the south every day, it might not be too long before big city rappers start claiming the countryside.
If you’ve ever heard DJ Smallz and Jackie Chain’s absolute banger of a mixtape, Fear the Future, you know that Jackie and the Block Beattaz make incredible music together. You A Lie? Over & Over Again? Rollin? Something about Jackie seems to bring out the best in CP & Mali Boi, or maybe they’re bringing out the best in him. Regardless of which it is, I’m fuckin with this trance-crunk style the long way.
