KD “Running Away” (Prod. by B. Kirk)
TC over at The Smoking Section had some great commentary to go along with this excellent track from Birmingham’s KD, “Running Away”, so we’ll add his words to describe the record:
It’s always fulfilling to see a region experience an emergence in the rap game without being renown for a stifling gimmick that will eventually prove to be impossible to shake. What should have been solidified with Rich Boy is finally coming to fruition a half of decade later in the dominant presence of Alabama Hip-Hop. Yelawolf, Rittz and Jackie Chain have all shown they have the country appeal to crossover to big cities and KD is apparently no different.
No need in feeding you mindless cookies to cut a rug with; KD’s food for thought is quite poignant and has a tangy flavor to dignify the substance in his lyrics. Produced by B. Kirk who laces the track with stirring organs to summon emotions alongside 808s to keep the gutter in the grain, KD mixes visual social opinions with a Black man in America’s point of view. Obama’s infallibility’s aside, the South continues to show the range of their diversity in the generation with Birmingham leading the charge. via TSS
