This marks the beginning of a new segment here on Boulevard Street where we highlight an unreleased record produced by the legendary Mr. DJ. Last year I was fortunate enough to chill with DJ and planned on doing a full mixtape series called “Camp David Chronicles.” He ended up dippin to LA for the summer to work but luckily I got a gang of material for the tapes.
This first one was recorded around the same time as The Charm. Bubba K lays down some incredible lyrics over a vintage Mr. DJ beat. The chill sample and off kilter drums somehow fit perfectly together. All of this coupled with Lil Will’s heartfelt hook make for a very compelling listen. It makes you wonder what they could have accomplished if they would have locked in and done a full album. Of course it probably wouldn’t have been a commercial success but the music would without a doubt be classic.
In the next couple weeks y’all can look forward to hearing unreleased Kilo Ali, Bohagon, Petey Pablo, Jason Weaver, Jeff B and more.
Good lookin on this post… Can’t wait 4 that Kilo Ali! We was raised on that nigga and Raheem the Dream and Tight 2 Def crew w/ Young Dro before he got w/ T.I. down in AL. Along w/ all the Other down south shit. But where i’m from the music you heard was based on the radio dj in your area and Dro and Kilo always came to AL to show love. Bohagon is a fool too, If only I could promote the nigga and get him heard like he should be cuz bitches really love that shit but don’t know who songs it be. Big ups to ya
