This was recorded for Da Backwudz mixtape with DJ Funky that came out before Wood Work dropped. It didn’t make the cut because..well..you’ll see. Anyways, Slimm sounds good as ever and Da Backwudz come through solid.
I’ve had a long day so I’m not going to say too much right now. This album is dope. The type of record that is NOT made these days. Son Of The Candy Lady has a very distinct sound thanks to Mr. DJ. He finds some of the dopest samples, matches them with vintage drums and comes out with something that sounds entirely fresh and memorable. (more…)
I vividly remember the first time I heard the name Jody Breeze. It was 2005 and I was hanging out in Greenbriar at Super Sound, a local mom & pop store. Also in attendance were MacBoney & C-Rod from the P$C. I wasn’t with them, they came up there a little after I got there to get some new music. It’s 1997 and you’re one third of the production team collectively known as Organized Noize. You’re working on a couple of the greatest southern hip hop Country Rap Tunes albums ever made. All created within the span of two years were Witchdoctor’s A S.W.A.T. Healin Ritual, Goodie Mob’s Still Standing, Outkast’s Aquemini and Lil Will’s Better Days. (more…)
In 1999, Jim Crow jumped into the southern hip-hop scene with their solid debut album Crow’s Nest. With production from a few unknown folks that would later become stars in their own right, Jim Crow came into the game with a sound all their own. On the boards for Crow’s Nest, they had DJ Toomp, Jazze Pha, David Banner, P.A., Mr. DJ & Organized Noize. (more…)
Due to the huge response I got from the BS Appreciation post I did on Jazze the other day, I decided to hit y’all off with the full album. Unreleased and raw in it’s intended form. I posted my favorite joint “Bitches Need Love Too” in the player. Enjoy.
