Eightball & MJG - Candy
Got damn MJG went the fuck off on this. His flow was perfect for this beat. Matching the first three words of every bar to the first 3 notes in the bassline was brilliant.

One of the fist rappers to popularize the screw movement was E.S.G.(Everyday Street Gangsta). He was a bonafine star in Texas right alongside UGK, Scarface, Lil’ Keke, & Fat Pat. He released classic albums Ocean of Funk, Sailin’ Da South, in 1994 and 1995 respectively. However, he was sentence to prison in 1995, after which his career declined. He also, wrote Lil’ Troy’s hit “Wanna Be A Baller”, which he claims he never recieved credit for.
This is one of those songs that I can listen to over and over a thousand times and never get tired of. It still feels as fresh today as it did when it first came out. Cooly C orchestrated the production with a few session players and Memphis rapper Playa G. From what I heard, Playa G played most of the keys on here. This beat is as smooth as Country Rap Tunes gets folks. The instrumental after the jump. (more…)
Damn this shit brings back memories! I miss Atlanta bass music. *tear* haha
Obviously I didn’t post this song because of how dope it is. Although I am a huge fan of Que Bo Gold, this is definitely not representative of the solid music he would drop years later with Jazze Pha. This is actually a lesson in staying down. Notice the other 2 people in the video? Akon & Polow Da Don. Akon actually produced this song along with the rest of “Red Clay” album. This was also around Jim Crow time, so I’m assuming that’s how Polow got on the record. (more…)
“Got the V-12 Benz, parked outside, it ain’t enough room to fit dem gulls in my rideeee.” This could very well be the quintessential Country Rap Tunes record.
Featuring Jazze Pha. Co-produced by DJ Toomp. Shot partially at the legendary Atlanta club 559. Pay attention around 0:11 to see a very young Chris Luva Luva aka Ludacris.
Watch as he destroys “Planet Rock.” Ahh, the good ol’ days. Back when a DJ was you’re favorite because of his skills and not the artists he associates himself with. Get em Toomp.
Circa 1997. Produced by Jazze Pha. I totally forgot about this shit until Maurice over @ TheRezidue.com reminded me about it. This belongs with my other Jazze Pha post but fuck it. Enjoy
