I had to post these (I’m on my Ball & G shit tonite); How many classic songs came from 8Ball & MJG’s first three Suave House albums? Honestly, besides Scarface, Ice Cube, and Outkast, there hasn’t ever been another flawless three albums in a row than Comin’ Out Hard, On the Outside Lookin’ In, and On Top of the World. These are two of my favorites from On the Outside Lokkin In. 2 soulful, great records that are standout tracks on a classic album.

For some reason, this record is absent from a lot of people’s 8Ball & MJG’s greatest hits, which is crazy. It’s probably because it’comes right after the track “Space Age Pimpin” which needs to be in teh Hip Hop Hall of Fame. Both Ball & G destroyed this track and its one of my favorites of all time. Suave House was a serious problem back in the day!

One of the most criminally slept on underground albums in the South was Hell 2 Pay. Immediately after releasing Universal Soldier, Troy felt he needed to satisfy his underground fans (even though Universal Soldier was mostly a street album) so he quietly dropped Hell 2 Pay, which became one of my personal favorite P. Troy albums.
This particular song is one of many highlights on the album. Assisted by amazing production from David Banner, Troy discusses everything goin’ on in the world and I promise you will have it on repeat. Shout out to the homie Troy!

I still haven’t met another person from ATL that’s a bigger Screwhead than me. This record is the main reason why. I can’t get enough of the orginal Screw tapes; It took me almost 8 years to collect almost all of ‘em and I got about 30 more to go. I’m sittin’ in the studio, goin’ thru my Screw grey tapes and when I got to this particular song, I remembered why DJ Screw is my number one influence for DJing…He could supernaturally transform an ok record into a haunting, captivating sound that could destroy any speaker system. It wasn’t just the timestretching or the slow factor; It was the mixing, scratching, everything…almost as if he was possessing this record and claiming it….Not to mention that ESG’s lyrics were exceptional to say the least…R.I.P. to my favorite DJ, Robert “DJ Screw” Davis Jr. Shout out to the big hme ESG!

This, along with Lil Jon’s “Bia Bia” were two of the main reasons I fell in love with car systems; Hearing this all over the Westside made me buy this CD and appreciate the definition of a trunk banga; I suggest you hook up some quality speakers to fully enjoy this classic; Shout out to Pimp and Gangsta!!!

Since this is my first post on Blvdst.com, what better way to start it off then with one of the best collabs in hip hop history?
I may be one of the only DJs that still spin classic No Limit on a regular and this record holds dear memory to me. WHen No Limt hit their zenith in 1998, I was a youngin’ trying to steal my sister’s cd collection. This particular album was the main one I stole and it really exposed me to southern hip hop for the first time. Even though Bun and Pimp both drop ridiculously hot verses, Fiend holds his own well and together they create one of the most memorable records in Southern Hip hop history. DJ CERTIFIED KINGPIN & FIEND mixtape comin soon…
